FAQ

Q: Can my student “squeeze in” if a class is full?
A: Once registration reaches capacity, a waitlist sign-up will be provided. While we’d love to add “just one more,” even 1–2 extra students can create challenges. Additional enrollment means unplanned costs such as mic rentals, extended rehearsal time, more instructors, and technical limitations.

Q: My child is signed up, but their friends are in a different cast. Can we switch?
A: Switching is only possible if space is available in the preferred cast. If that cast is full, your student will need to join the waitlist. We are unable to guarantee that friends will be placed together once a cast has filled.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

  • You may cancel your registration with a cash refund (with a $50 cancellation fee), however, your request must be submitted in writing within 48 hours of registration.

  • After the 48-hour window, cancellations are eligible for a credit that can be applied to future OYES programming.

  • If a class does not meet minimum enrollment, OYES may cancel the program and will issue a full refund.

  • There are no refunds or credits for missed classes. OYES is unable to offer refunds for cancellations due to circumstances beyond our control (such as natural disasters or public health events).

Roles and Expectations

Roles

Please do not expect to play a lead.  All participants are encouraged to accept any role they are given, and enjoy the process of telling a story on stage together!

Some roles may be shared or split roles. Actors performing in a shared role will perform 2 performances in the shared role, and 2 performances in a featured ensemble role.

Gender-specific roles: We respect all requests to play a gender-specific role. Some characters can be adapted to be gender neutral or swapped, however, not all characters can be adapted. All participants are eligible to be cast in any role unless otherwise noted at auditions.

Casting

Our goal is to equip every participant with the tools they need to thrive as part of an ensemble, emphasizing that every role is vital in telling our story. We are committed to ensuring that each cast member enjoys ample stage time and feels valued, no matter what role they play. Being part of an ensemble means working together to create something special, where every contribution is important. We're here to enjoy this creative journey together!

The casting process takes into consideration various factors including presentations at audition, experience, training, passion, growth, commitment to rehearsals and practice, roles previously played, and last but definitely not least, the chemistry of the cast overall. The production team maintains the privilege of casting the show as they see fit, and intends to create a well-balanced cast. Please encourage your actor to embrace their casting, and remember, there are no small parts!
